Celebrating Our Learners
Our students have shown tremendous growth, curiosity, and resilience throughout the year. From exploring new concepts through inquiry-based learning to demonstrating their creativity in various projects, they have truly embodied the qualities of an international learner. This year, our students have embraced the attributes of the Learner Profile, developing their skills as thinkers, communicators, inquirers, and reflective individuals.
We’ve seen students shine as they engage with real-world issues, whether it's through designing sustainable solutions, exploring cultural perspectives with our Whole School: Suitcase of belonging initiative, sharing stories with peers from different backgrounds. The development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills has been a highlight across all year levels.
Community Connections
This year has been filled with meaningful connections within our local community and beyond. As part of our commitment to fostering global citizenship and inquiry-based learning, our students have had the opportunity to engage with various local organisations, participate in community service, and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Our school truly embodies the spirit of international-mindedness, and we are grateful to all of our families for their continued support and involvement in school activities. Some of the highlights include:
Local Environmental Initiatives
Our Sustainability Captains have worked closely with ‘I sea, I care’ marine ambassadors. Year 6 students took action by awareness campaigns to promote environmental stewardship during their Year 6 Exhibition. The students have learned not only about environmental issues but also about the importance of taking collective action for a sustainable future.
Intergenerational Connections
This year, we’ve also nurtured connections between our school and our senior citizens. Prep students opened their doors during grandparents' day as they exploring the Transdisciplinary theme, Where we are in place and time. These interactions have not only enriched the students’ learning experiences but have also fostered a sense of connection.
Support for Local Charities
Beaumaris North Primary School has continued its tradition of supporting local charities. These have been through our Student Agency Team, raising money and awareness for Jeans for Genes Day. The Year 5 Showcase and Year 6 Exhibition student initiatives.
Cultural Celebrations and Diversity Events
As part of our ongoing celebration of diversity and inclusion, our school has hosted a number of cultural events, inviting local cultural groups to share their traditions with our students. These have included performances in Japanese, Music and Art, which have deepened students' understanding of the rich cultural fabric that makes up our local community.
Collaborations with Local Businesses
Beaumaris North Primary has also strengthened ties with local businesses, creating opportunities for our students to engage with professionals in various fields. From excursions to the Concourse for Year 2 while exploring the Transdisciplinary theme, How we organise ourselves. To opportunities with local business owners donating for the Year 6 How we organise ourselves whole school Mega Market event, these experiences have provided students with real-world connections to their learning.
Community Sporting Events
This year, our students participated in various sporting events and activities, both within the school and in collaboration with other local schools. Whether it’s competing at Interschool sports or competing at next level sporting competitions including Division and State competitions, footy Galas and Lacrosse Championships, these events have promoted teamwork, fair play, and school spirit.
Parent and Family Engagement
Throughout the year, we’ve been grateful for the ongoing support of our school families. Our Parents and Friends has organised several community-building events, including our very successful school fete. These activities have allowed families to come together and build stronger connections within the school.
A Look Ahead
As we prepare for the year ahead, we’re excited about the opportunities for further growth and exploration. We will continue to focus on developing the core principles of the PYP: fostering inquiry, nurturing global citizenship, and supporting every child’s personal journey towards becoming a lifelong learner.
We also look forward to new initiatives and enhancements in our curriculum, focusing on expanding our students’ learning experiences and preparing them to be positive, proactive contributors to a changing world.
