Congratulations to Brodie Stephenson from Year 7 who received an honourable mention in the Little Stories, Big Ideas writing competition. This is an Australia wide writing competition open to all secondary students. The brief is to respond in writing to a prompt using 100 words or less. Here is Brodie’s entry:
The Game
The peaceful sounds of lorikeets echoed through the air, the crackle of chips and the distant sound of laughter filled the playground. Harrison was smacked by the scent of lollies and pies and the sight of them. The jet black concrete shone beneath the decript basketball hoop, where they were playing. Shy and nervous Harrisons ambles over as if he was a sloth.“Harrison, is it ?” called Mark. Harrison felt as if the world stopped to stare at him, sweat dripping down his face he replied, “y-y-yes.” Mark grinned, extended his hand, and said, "Welcome to the game!" Harrison’s heart warmed, as he finally felt truly accepted.
