It was wonderful to see students walking back into the College yesterday for the start of 2025. I hope that they did so feeling positive and energised for the year ahead. Amongst those arriving were members of our new Prep and Year 7 cohorts, as well as 7 new students across other levels in Junior School and 25 new students across the Senior School. They are particularly welcome and I hope that they settle in quickly to life at our school.
I extend again a warm invitation to all parents, new and returning, to join College staff for our annual College Parents’ Welcome Drinks on tomorrow, Friday 31 January at 6:00pm on the Tower Lawns. The weather is expected to be perfect for an evening on the lawns. This is an ideal event to attend for new parents to meet others in the College community, and for all of those returning to catch up and mark the beginning of the College year.
The weather does not look as promising for the weekend and early next week, with forecast temperatures of 40 and above. Our thoughts remain with the CFA crews facing the Grampians and Little Desert fires. Of course we hope for the best, but in the event that a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating is called by the CFA, our Junior Campus and ELC would not be permitted to open, and our bus routes would likely not run. Given the breadth of this impact on College operations, if a Catastrophic day is called the College would sensibly close for the day. I flag this now only as a possibility for early next week; please keep an eye on College emails and social media on Sunday.
