THE GLOW SHOW
Over the past few weeks, I had been hearing that The Glow Show attracts a large number of visitors (parents, grandparents and students), but I still wasn't prepared for the large crowds that attended on Monday and Wednesday evening. A big thank you to Mrs Burns for her outstanding leadership in coordinating The Glow Show, to Mrs DK for her invaluable support, and to all staff who contributed by promoting the event, helping with the set-up, assisting on the night or supporting in so many other ways. Well done also to our students for creating such vibrant and eye-catching artwork.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to bring their children along to view the display. I really appreciated the many positive comments from visitors, including:
"Thank you so much for putting this on. It looks amazing."
"How long did it take to put all of this together?"
The Glow Show was a wonderful celebration of our students' creativity, a fantastic showcase of our school, and a valuable opportunity to strengthen connections with our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a successful and memorable event.
CALENDAR
A reminder to keep an eye on the calendar in the newsletter each week. We've already had several students asking when the Book Week Dress-Up Day and Parade will be held!
TEACHING AND LEARNING
I've been impressed with how staff have begun implementing the Opportunities to Respond strategies developed during our recent Curriculum Day. It has been pleasing to see teachers regularly providing prompts, asking purposeful questions and checking for understanding to actively engage students throughout lessons. These evidence-based strategies help students remain focused, strengthen their understanding and maximise learning opportunities.
NAPLAN
A reminder that parents and carers of students in Year 3 and 5 can collect their child's NAPLAN results from the school office. Below is a summary of our 2026 results compared with similar schools:
Year 3: Well above similar schools in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Number, and Grammar and Punctuation.
Year 5: Equal to similar schools in Reading and slightly below for Writing, Spelling, Number and Grammar and Punctuation.
Student learning growth: From Year 3 (2024) to Year 5 (2026), student learning growth was above similar schools in Reading, Writing, Grammar and Punctuation.
Overall: Our results were at or above similar schools in 6 of the 10 assessment areas.
These results reflect the ongoing commitment of our staff, students and families to supporting high levels of student learning and achievement.
AEU INDUSTRIAL ACTION
Thank you to those parents and carers who kept their child/ren at home yesterday while many of our staff participated in the Australian Education Union (AEU) statewide 24-hour stop-work action. Hopefully this matter is resolved soon.
2027 FOUNDATION (Prep) ENROLMENTS
A reminder that enrolment applications for children commencing Foundation (Prep) in 2027 are due at the school office by Friday 31 July.
CLASSROOM TABLES
During term 2 we were able to upgrade our year 5 classroom tables. Therefore, we have a supply of our old classroom tables which we can offer to families for free. If you would like a table or two please contact the office.
