Oasis News.....

We are so excited about OASIS this semester with the Foundation, Grade 1's, 2's and 3's.
We have lots of fun things planned in the garden!
Reminder that children can wear their sports uniforms on their OASIS days so they are comfortable in the garden. While the weather is cooler, it is best to have a jumper or jacket at school too, as the mornings can be chilly in the shaded garden. And perhaps best not to wear your best, favourite runners in case they get muddy!
- Mondays – Grade 2
- Tuesdays – Fdn W and Fdn D
- Wednesdays – Fdn M and Fdn B
- Thursdays - Grade 3R and 3BH.
So, what have we been up to?
Grade 2's have being learning about decomposing and compost and have taken on the job of managing the worm farm. We have learnt about the balance of green and brown materials that worms need to thrive. Students have also been down in the garden doing small jobs preparing the gardening beds for planting. Mr Wright and Mr Geary have also been very busy - the OASIS space looks fantastic! Thank you!
In Grade 2 we are also trialing Potter and Play for a small part of our weekly lessons where children can choose to do small gardening tasks, sketch, read, potter, built stick cubbies or develop our fairy garden space.
Using pumpkins, Grade 1's are learning about seed germination. Next week they will plant the seeds that they have drying out at the moment.
Foundation children have been learning all about our OASIS garden and the expectations and safety requirements of the space. We learnt about seeds this week and planted some in pots which we will later plant into the garden beds when the weather is warmer.
