Feast of the Assumption – Whole School Mass
Tomorrow, Friday 14 August @ 9.15am, we will come together as a school community to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption, an important feast day in the Catholic tradition. This special day honours our belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken into heaven, body and soul.
In preparation for this celebration, students and staff have been learning about the significance of the feast, practising readings and hymns, and preparing for a reverent and prayerful liturgy.
Mass will begin at 9:15am in the Shed, with all classes participating. We are grateful to Fr Jake, who will lead us in this celebration. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to gather in faith and reflect on Mary's example of trust in God, devotion, humility, and love.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the preparation of this special celebration. We look forward to coming together as a community and sharing this meaningful occasion.

Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop
Last week, the Catholic community celebrated the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia's first saint. Mary MacKillop dedicated her life to serving others, particularly through providing education for children and supporting those most in need. Together with Fr Julian Tenison Woods, she founded the Sisters of St Joseph and lived by the inspiring words, "Never see a need without doing something about it."
Mary's life continues to inspire us to live with courage, compassion, and faith. Despite facing many challenges, she remained steadfast in her trust in God and her commitment to helping others. Her example reminds us that even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in the lives of those around us.
As a school, we are encouraged to follow Mary MacKillop's example by showing care for others, standing up for what is right, and responding generously to those in need. May her spirit of service and trust in God continue to guide our actions each day.
Assembly tomorrow – Knights of the Southern Cross
Tomorrow, we look forward to welcoming Kevin Slater from the Knights of the Southern Cross, who will present a small gift to the students who celebrated the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation earlier this year.
The presentation acknowledges an important milestone in the faith journey of our students. Through these Sacraments, students have deepened their relationship with God and strengthened their connection to the Catholic community.
We are grateful to Kevin and the Knights of the Southern Cross for their ongoing support of our parish and school communities, and for recognising and encouraging our students as they continue to grow in faith. Congratulations once again to all students who celebrated these special Sacraments this year.
Spirituality Day
Last Wednesday, our school had the privilege of hosting the CESL Spirituality Day, welcoming more than 230 staff members from Catholic schools across the Bendigo Diocese.
The day provided a valuable opportunity for educators to gather in faith, reflection, and professional learning. We were honoured to hear from an outstanding group of guest speakers, including Bishop Tim Norton, Stan Grant, Lisa McInnes-Smith, Marcia Arnold, and Elise Nally, whose presentations inspired and challenged participants through their wisdom, experience, and faith-filled leadership.
A special thank you to Fiona and her team for their outstanding hospitality and hard work in preparing a delicious morning tea and lunch. Their efforts created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all our visitors and contributed greatly to the success of the day.
We are proud to have hosted such a significant event and thank everyone who played a role in making the day a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.

St Therese’s 2026/2027 Sacramental Preparation Program
NOW OPEN
St Therese's Parish are now taking enrolments for the 2026/2027 Sacramental Preparation program. Families with children in Grade 2 and above are invited to enrol in the program by using the below QR code. The program will commence with children preparing for Reconciliation this year, followed by Confirmation and First Holy Eucharist in 2027.
Parents are requiredto attend an Information Night at St Therese's Church in Kennington, on either:
Monday 31st August 2026, 6:30pm
OR
Thursday 3rd September 2026, 6:30pm
Children are not required to attend this meeting, but are welcome.
