Principal's Update

St Joseph's is a child-safe school.

We promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students.

Good Afternoon all ...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our families for their strong support and engagement in our Learning Conversations last week. These conversations provide a valuable opportunity for students, families and teachers to celebrate growth, reflect on learning and work together to support each child's continued success.

I would also like to express my gratitude to everyone who attended and supported our Art Show. The event was a wonderful celebration of creativity and showcased the talents, imagination and hard work of our students.

Another thanks to Elise Hogan for her generous donation of her painting, Tiny Dancer, and a big congratulations to Steph Freemantle, the new owner of this beautiful piece.  Thank you to all the families who participated in the silent auction, including those who placed bids on our class art pieces. Your generosity and enthusiasm helped make the event a great success.

Early Arrival to School

A friendly reminder to families that student supervision does not begin until 8.30am each morning. I have noticed a growing number of students arriving at school well before this time, and for their safety, I ask that children not be dropped off before supervision is available.

I have also noticed an increasing number of students arriving with hot drinks and takeaway snacks. While I appreciate that mornings can be busy, I ask for your support in ensuring that students finish breakfast before arriving at school and do not bring hot drinks onto the school grounds. This helps us maintain a safe environment, reduces spills and distractions, and supports a calm start to the school day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Drive Through Pickup - Safety Reminder

Despite previous reminders, we are continuing to see some unsafe practices in our pick-up zones. The safety of our students, families and staff remains our highest priority, and I ask all parents and carers to carefully follow the established procedures.

When joining the Gladstone Street or Breen Street pick-up queues, please only enter the line when there is sufficient space for your vehicle to move completely into the queue. If all spaces are occupied, we ask that you continue driving and rejoin the queue when it is safe to do so. Please do not stop with any part of your vehicle extending into oncoming traffic, as this creates a significant safety risk for all road users.

I appreciate your ongoing support and cooperation. By following these procedures consistently, we can work together to ensure that our pick-up zones remain safe for everyone in our school community.
