Defence Club Update – Weeks 1 & 2

We have had a wonderful start to the term, and I have absolutely loved getting to know your children and beginning to build connections with them.

During Weeks 1 and 2 in Defence Club, our focus has been on welcoming and belonging, as well as talking about safety and comfort within Defence Club. We want students to feel that Defence Club is a safe, relaxed space where they are welcome to be themselves.

Students enjoyed playing Would You Rather – Defence Edition, which sparked some great conversations and helped students find common ground with one another.

Our Defence Captains also introduced themselves and explained what Defence Club is about, including when it runs, what students can expect, and how they can get involved.

It has been lovely to see students settling in, engaging with each other, and beginning to form new friendships.

If it is your child’s birthday during the term, please feel free to reach out, as they will receive a lunch voucher for the canteen to help celebrate their special day.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, or if there is anything you would like me to be aware of to help support your child.

Invitation: Keith Payne VC, AM Visit

Families are warmly invited to attend a special commemorative event on Wednesday 11 March, commencing at 11.30am, featuring Keith Payne VC, AM, one of Australia’s most highly decorated veterans.

As part of the 77th Anniversary of the NSL Lines, Keith Payne will take part in a walk-and-talk tour of the Vietnam Veterans Walk, sharing reflections on his time in Vietnam, the significance of his medals, and the importance of service and remembrance. He will be joined by John Phoenix OAM.

This visit is especially significant, as it will be Keith Payne’s final visit to our area and his last opportunity to present locally.

If you or your child would like to attend this meaningful experience, please let me know so numbers can be confirmed and arrangements finalised.
