VCE Summer School
Our experience at the VCE Summer School program at the University of Melbourne was an absolute delight. It was attended by Nicholas Houghton, Danish and Batrisyia Zakir and me, Owen Brown. Every aspect of the program was so fun, definitely a 10/10 time: super useful and friendly. We had volunteer tutors and a wide range of both educational and fun group activities every day. We gained more than just a boost in our education, as we made so many new friends. I would say that the people we met were the best part overall, both tutors and students from all over Victoria, even as far as NSW. Evey single person was so nice and interesting, every person was different and unique, yet you could find so many similarities. We learnt a diverse range of new skills and important information to assist us in our goals after school, especially leading into university. Personally, I got help from a specific tutor who was doing the exact same course as I want to do, which significantly gave me more insight on what I was going to go into.
All four of us participated in the residential program, which was very accommodating and more fun than the main program. We got a delicious feast for every meal of the day and got an extra range of activities at St. Hilda’s College, one of the University of Melbourne’s residential colleges. We got the perfect mix of time to learn and focus and hang around all these new friends. We got to stay for two whole weeks and at first I was skeptical of the length but it resulted perfectly in the end. From optional runs every morning to the very competitive trivias, the entirety of the program was the highlight of my summer holidays.
