Health Centre News
Hi Seymour College students and families,
I’m delighted to introduce myself! My name is Jayde, and I’m very excited to be joining Seymour College as the new School Nurse for the F–12 mainstream students.
I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of this wonderful school community. Supporting student health and wellbeing is something I’m truly passionate about. I’m a friendly, caring, and approachable person, and I’m committed to making the Health Centre a safe and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable, respected, and well cared for.
I encourage students to come and say hello and introduce themselves — I’d love to meet you. In the Health Centre, we value kindness, respect, and open communication, and my goal is to ensure every student feels heard, supported, and at ease.
I’m excited to work alongside you all and to support our students throughout the year.
Kind regards,
Jayde 🙂School Nurse
Stay safe in the sun — sunscreen and water are your best friends! ☀️💧
Sunny days are the best, but taking care of your skin and body is a must.
Wearing sunscreen every day helps protect your skin from sunburn and lowers the risk of skin cancer. Go for a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, and don’t forget to reapply during the day — especially if you’re outside, sweating, or swimming.
And don’t forget to drink up! Staying hydrated helps your body stay cool and energized in the heat. Keep a water bottle nearby and take small sips often.
Little habits like these make a big difference, helping you stay healthy, happy, and sun-safe all season long 🌞✨
Warm regards Jayde & Kristy – School Nurses
Vaping among young Australians is a continuing concern. In 2022–2023, nearly 30% of secondary school students had tried vaping, and current e‑cigarette use among people aged 14+ increased from 2.5% in 2019 to 7.0% in 2023.
Lung Foundation Australia is the nation’s leading charity and for over 30 years, we have been dedicated to funding life-changing research and delivering support services for people living with lung disease and lung cancer. As a national leader in e-cigarette education and advocacy, we have developed a suite of free resources.
These resources were developed in collaboration with young people and subject matter experts to empower educators, parents, and carers to engage in meaningful conversations and raise awareness of the physical, mental, and environmental impacts of vaping.
Our vaping resources are freely available to support and inform your staff and the school community on the impacts of vaping. We encourage you to explore the resources and share them widely.
Thank you for supporting the health and wellbeing of young Australians and helping to promote healthy lungs and a vape-free environment.
Kind regards,
Chelsea Pirodon
