Upcoming maintenance work on Clarinda Road, Oakleigh South

There will be vital maintenance works on approximately 740 metres of Clarinda Road in Oakleigh South between Bourke Road and Bunney Road.

The works will involve replacing layers of the road, asphalt resurfacing and line marking to restore the condition of the road surface.

This project is part of the 2025-26 road maintenance program.

When to expect us

Works are expected to take place over three continuous weeks between March and May 2026. We’ll notify the community of expected dates before these vital road maintenance works begin.

Works will take place under nightly road closures to minimise traffic disruption and to keep our crews safe. Crews are expected to work between 9:00pm and 5:00am, Sundays to Thursdays. No works will take place on Friday and Saturday nights. The road will reopen every morning from 5:00am.

Dates and times are subject to change due to weather conditions and the contractor’s program of works.

What to expect during night works

  • A nightly road closure on Clarinda Road between Bourke Road and Bunney Road. Detours will be in place via the Dingley Bypass, Warrigal Road and Centre Road. Crews will work along one section of Clarinda Road at a time.
  • Crews will work with property owners to maintain access to private properties and businesses within this section of Clarinda Road. Please speak to a traffic management controller during works if you require access.
  • No parking on this section of Clarinda Road.
  • Medium to high levels of noise when crews remove the surface layers of road. Low to medium levels of noise are expected during all other works. Crews will schedule the noisiest works in the earlier part of the shift, where possible.
  • Crews use modern equipment to keep noise to a minimum, however the works will unavoidably emit some noise and light. For the safety of road users and workers, reversing beepers are required on all machinery.
  • A detour will be in place for PTV bus 631 during night works. We’ll provide more details before works start.
  • Emergency service vehicle access will be maintained.
  • A reduced speed limit during works to ensure the safety of crews and all road users.
