Principal's Message

Partnership Prayer

Dear Lord,

Bless our conversations with open hearts and listening ears. May the insights shared help us truly understand and support every child. Together, let us build a foundation of trust that helps each student flourish.

Amen.

Listening First – Our Parent-Teacher Connection

As we move through the opening weeks of Term 1, our primary goal is to truly understand the students in our care. To do that effectively, we need to hear from the people who know them best: you.

I am pleased to invite all families to our Parent-Teacher Interviews on Thursday, 12th February.

Focus: Parents as the Experts

Often, school meetings are seen as a time for teachers to report on student performance. However, this early in the year, we believe the most valuable part of the meeting is the information parents provide to us. These interviews are a dedicated opportunity for you to "brief" your child's teacher. We want to hear about your child’s passions, their strengths, their challenges, and any family context that helps us support them. By sharing your insights, you help us tailor our teaching to meet your child’s specific needs from the very beginning.

Guidance on Attendance

Please note that these particular interviews are designed for parents and teachers only. To allow for an open, candid, and professional dialogue about your child’s development and any specific concerns you may have, students are not required to attend the interview. This environment ensures that you can speak freely with the teacher, establishing a strong partnership that will benefit your child throughout the school year.

Important Logistics for Thursday, 12th February can be found later in this newsletter

We look forward to listening to your perspectives and working together to make this a successful year for your child.

Morning Drop-Off Arrangements

As shared in my updates late last year and again in last week’s newsletter, we are currently trialling updated morning drop-off procedures and gate times to ensure a safer, smoother start to the day for all students.

A Friendly Reminder of the Morning Timeline:

  • 8:30 am: Gates open. Please ensure students are not dropped off before this time, as supervision is not available.
  • 8:40 am: Music will play across the school. This is the signal for students to move to their lines and prepare for the day.
  • 8:45 am: Our official school day begins. We gather as a community at this time for our school prayer and walking to class.

We are continuing to monitor the impact of these changes and are grateful for the parent feedback received so far. Your insights are essential in helping us shape the final plan. We remain flexible and will adjust routines as needed—for example, implementing wet weather protocols when necessary and music before the bell .

Have Your Say

We will be launching a formal feedback process in the coming weeks to gather your thoughts on the trial. Please keep an eye on future newsletters for details on how you can participate.

Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation in making our mornings successful.

Regards

Brian Martin
