Performing Arts

Welcome to a new year of Performing Arts at Hamlyn Views School!
Students have started the year by exploring a range of fun and engaging movement experiences designed to develop their confidence, coordination and self-expression. This semester we are focusing on dance. Students have practised moving fast and slow to a range of different songs and have used props such as scarves and ribbons to create flowing, expressive movements. We have also been practising body-based actions including clapping, stamping, reaching, turning and balancing.
Over the next few weeks, students will practise learning simple dance sequences, combining movements to create short routines and exploring elements of dance such as space, time and dynamics. We will continue to build confidence in performing and working together, with opportunities for students to share their dances with the class in supportive and celebratory ways.
Here are some snapshots of our dance activities and creative movement moments so far this term! 💃✨
