From the 3/4 Classrooms

B.P.P.S. has a longstanding tradition of promoting physical activity and healthy habits. We do this by encouraging our students to walk and wheel to school on Wednesdays.

However, since it's the beginning of a new school year, we want to remind our students and the broader community about the importance of road safety in and around our school.

To help our students learn about road safety, last week, our Year 3 and 4 students participated in a road safety incursion provided by the Boroondara Council.

The hour-long incursion involved a series of everyday scenarios to improve children's awareness about road safety and increase their confidence and independence when using the road and walkways as pedestrians, cyclists, or vehicle passengers.

During the incursion, students learned the importance of traffic signals, road signs, and traffic rules. They also had the opportunity to practice crossing the road safely and being visible to drivers when cycling or walking.

Our students were actively engaged throughout the incursion, and they asked many questions to deepen their understanding of the topic.

Road safety is an essential life skill that all our students should have. Therefore, we encourage our students to share their newfound knowledge and skills with their peers, families, and friends.

We hope to see these new skills in action as students walk, wheel, and are dropped off at school throughout the year!
