Principal's Report

Save the Date

We are excited to officially announce a Movie Night has been planned for Friday, 19th April. This is in recognition of the continual positive behaviour that students are demonstrating, aligned closely to the values are embedded in our culture. Further details to come but be sure to save the date…

Super Fish

Congratulations to our swim squad who ironically braved the heat to compete in this year’s Division Championships. The way in which our team represented Box Hill North was simply exceptional. Two particular highlights included the courage shown by Matilda to take on the Butterfly leg of the mixed medley. 50m of any stroke at this age group can be a challenge, let alone the most difficult of the strokes. Matilda ensured that she committed to her part, allowing her teammates the opportunity to compete. The other standout was Zach, who sacrificed his position in the freestyle relay for his sister, Mia. Not only did he give up his spot, he did so with the most genuine and positive attitude. It’s these types of moments that exemplify our community.

Masterplan Update

This week, we had a feasibility inspection from the Victorian School Building Authority to determine whether Box Hill North is suitable for a kindergarten upgrade. This is part of the government’s commitment towards building a better future for children. It is promising to know that we are be considered and is complimentary to the fact that all four of our kindergarten programs are currently full with an extensive waiting list!

Maths is Everywhere!

A former colleague of mine was renowned for promoting the importance of maths and often overheard stating, ‘Maths is everywhere’. I can’t help but draw parallel conclusions to the current experiences at Box Hill North. This week, leading expert, Pete Sanders from Love Maths, has spent valuable time modelling a broad variety of lessons to classes across the school, with our staff observing his practice. He has then led discussions, alongside Yasmin, our Maths Learning Specialist, and Ains, who oversees our curriculum development, to contribute to the building of our maths toolkit. This piece of work is an extension to the strong foundation put in place over the past two years, supported by an incredible staff who are completely committed to providing exceptional learning experiences for every child. Great opportunity presents to engage in conversation with your child’s class teacher next week on how we can work in partnership to best support your child.

Visible Learning

Next week, our teaching staff look forward to meeting with you to discuss the strengths of your child, and opportunity for growth. Conversation will encompass a holistic approach with a focus on curriculum, engagement and wellbeing. If you haven’t booked a time through Compass, it’s not too late.
