Declarations of Intent for Learning
Our lines of inquiry
In designing our inquiry projects, our teams have been collecting data through observing our children at play. Through this process we are listening deeply to the conversations the children are having with each other, the inner talk that is expressed when playing independently, the questions they are asking and the innovative ways the children resource their play to inform their theories.
As we launch in to our 6th week of 'Living & Learning', our three learning teams have been exploring various lines of inquiry that will be highlighted in the children's learning over the coming weeks and months.
Families are encouraged to journey with the children through questions, wonderings, experiences that are shared through the Lead Educators weekly reflections and documentation that will be coming via Storypark. As the children and educators are researching together, this work is documented in multiple modes such as; photos, videos, drawings, noting child's voice and group discussions. If you are interested in seeing any further documentation on the inquiry projects please feel free to connect with your child's Lead Educator who would be more than happy to share this with you.
I present to you our teams lines of inquiry:
Green Team
Declaration: Children feel connected to each other and their learning when they can express themselves with authenticity.
Exploring Concepts:
How do we know what a feeling is? Labelling emotions and knowing how these feel within and outside of our body.
Understanding how to read emotions in other people and how this may impact our relationships.
Building strategies to ask for help to co-regulate and to access these independently.
Blue Team
Declaration: Developing an understanding about the properties of light and shadow to explore body form and movement.
Exploring Concepts:
How do the properties of light sources and objects interact with each other to create shadows?
Developing scientific thinking and developing hypothesis through active participation through sharing and contesting ideas.
Incorporating shadow exploration as a medium for entertainment.
Orange Team
Declaration: Child will work together to co-construct a deep understanding of how we contribute to developing a culture of fairness as a community of learners.
Exploring Concepts:
How do shared responsibility enact the rights of others?
What does it mean for things to be equitable?
Promoting shared sustained thinking to explore developing theories of connection to others.
We are excited about the possibilities that these lines of inquiry will offer our curious learners.
