Team Leader's Message

Term 1

2024 has started off particularly busy for our new VPC students.  As well as adjusting to a new curriculum, Vocational Training programs and work programs, our Year 11 students have also attended their Melbourne City experience Camp.  Events such as this provide students with wonderful opportunities for personal growth as well as providing evidence towards achieving their Personal Development Skills Learning Outcomes.

Jumping straight into an intense experience such as this gives all of us a chance to get to know each other better and build some strong team unity.  Students and staff journeyed on public transport into the City to explore all that Melbourne has to offer, and discover why it is one of the most visited cities in the world.  Students collaboratively investigated the venues we attended and made all the necessary preparations for the event to make sure it was enjoyable for everyone.  Staying 2 nights at our centrally located hotel, we travelled all over the city on public transport and on foot.  Students marvelled at the beauty of our city and explored previously unknown places and activities as well as tasting new cuisines and eating in restaurants. They were able to enjoy a range of new experiences that many of them plan to take their families back to see for themselves!!  The students all demonstrated confidence and maturity and were a pleasure to take on camp.

Year 12 students have started out the year exploring several post school options before attending the Careers Expo with their families to help make some informed decisions about what they want to do once they leave school at the end of the year.  Our Expo had over 20 providers in attendance all keen to get our students on board with their programs. The Expo  provided our families with information and ideas to assist them to make informed choices, with the guidance of our transitions team, (Natalie and Bronwyn) about where to next for their child during 1:1 transition meetings being held over the following weeks.
