Jamie

HELLO! I’m Jamie! I’ve been working at Brunswick North-west for the last few years as an Aide in classrooms, Educator in OSHC, and now a qualified teacher in the art room! For the first five weeks of term, I have been filling in for the wonderful Kate Mac while she is away. To reintroduce the students into the art room, we have been creating wild artworks, exploring creative processes and experimenting with different mediums, in particular, mosaics,  comic book illustrations and watercolours. Outside of school, I can usually be found creating art in my studio or playing drums in my band.

Alicia

Kii! I loved returning to primary teaching last year at this wonderful school after 10 years of studying, researching, and teaching adults at uni. Teaching Enviro at BNW means teaching all my favourite things - science, land education, gardening and cooking 🙂 I’m passionate about First Nations’ justice through land care. When I’m not in the garden or cloud-gazing, I’m cooking, playing music, camping, and hanging out with my family, friends, and dog Daisy. I love composting and fungi and I think we can learn from them how to better care for the Earth.

Tom

Hi! I’m Tom and I’ve been teaching PE at BNW for 7 years. I’m a self-proclaimed sports nerd who loves all sports and anything that gets humans moving. I believe there’s a form of movement for every-body and one of my goals is to help every student in the school find something active they love to do. When I’m not being a teacher, I’m living the Dad life and spending time with my family or watching the NBA, playing video games or taking my dogs, Ragnar and Elkie for long walks and a play at the park. You might even see Ragnar around school joining in the PE lesson!

Ibu Kas

Hi, I teach Bahasa Indonesia at our school. Last year I got to go back to the village in Indonesia where I first learned to speak Indonesian more than 26 years ago! Returning there with my two eldest children and visiting old friends (some of us very old!) was such a delight. I always love hearing about holidays our students have had in Indonesia too.  The photo is my boys and I on our Flores adventure visiting a weaving collective. My youngest child is in year 12 this year and like her brothers has to bend down to kiss me these days. I have been at BNWP 8 years now and thoroughly enjoy witnessing your children grow and mature and being a small part of their learning adventures.

Jenny

Hello everyone, I’m Jenny the Performing Arts teacher. This is my 5th year teaching at BNWPS and I love it. Teaching Performing Arts is so special to me as I believe there is so much personal growth and happiness that can come from music, dance, drama and all types of physical creative expression. As a child I was super shy, often struggling with social anxiety and have found Performing Arts a powerful space to express and work through these challenging feelings. Most of my performance background is in Circus Arts, being part of a small troupe performing across Australia as a teenager and young adult. However more recently I have been training and storytelling through dance and flow/fire arts. I am half Sri Lankan and enjoy exploring other cultures through their Performing Arts practices. Outside of school you might find me having a boogie at live music gigs, festivals or in Dunstan reserve with my sweet black kelpie (Shadow). Always welcome to come say hi! 🙂
