ANZAC Day
ADVANCED NOTICE - ANZAC DAY COMMEMORATIONS
This is an advance notice about the involvement of students from St. Joseph’s School in the local ANZAC Day commemorations which falls in the school holidays this year.
St. Joseph’s School students have been invited by the Glen Innes RSL Sub-branch to take part in the 2024 ANZAC Day commemorations on Thursday, 25th April, 2024. Although ANZAC Day falls during the holidays, we hope a number of students can take part.Our involvement will be as follows:
- Dawn Service: The School and Sports Captains, SRC members and any other students along with their parents are invited to participate in the ANZAC Dawn Service at the Glen Innes Cemetery in Grafton Street, which generally commences at 5.15am on ANZAC Day, Thursday, 25th April 2023
- ANZAC March: All students are also invited to participate in the ANZAC Day March which generally starts at 11am on ANZAC Day, Thursday 25th April. The students will meet the teachers and assemble at the Post Office corner at 10.15am ready to form up at 10.30am.
Following the commemorations at ANZAC Park, students will be signed out and collected by their parents and are invited if they wish to share in a 'Sausage Sizzle' hosted by the Glen Innes RSL Sub-Branch.
General Information and Dress Code: Students are asked to wear their full summer uniform. School Captains and Sports Captains are to wear their school blazers. Students who wish to honour the memory of loved ones by wearing their medals in the ANZAC Day March may do so, providing that the medals are worn on the right hand side of their chest.
Please consider if your child will be able to attend, traditionally we always have a great representation from our school. A COMPASS event notice will be published for you to register your child’s participation.
