Year 7 Camp

Last week our Year 7 students embarked on an unforgettable adventure at Fulton Park for their annual camp, and what an incredible journey it was! Camping is not just about sleeping out and roasting marshmallows; it is about building relationships, embracing challenges and creating lasting memories, and our Year 7s did just that and more.

Nestled in the beauty of nature with the sun shining down upon them, the weather could not have been more perfect for our young adventurers. Throughout their time at Fulton Park, students engaged in a myriad of activities designed to foster teamwork, resilience and self-confidence.

One of the highlights of the camp was the tribal competitions where students bonded over friendly competitions and worked together to achieve common goals. From creating mascots to participating in water activities and kayaking, every moment was filled with laughter, learning and a sense of camaraderie.

While some students initially worried about staying overnight or trying new foods, they quickly discovered the power of resilience and adaptation. Through facing their fears and challenges head-on, they not only grew in confidence but also forged strong friendships with their peers, forming connections that will last a lifetime.

As the camp came to a close, students were treated to an awe-inspiring tour of Gunns Plains Caves, where they marveled at the stunning cave structures and the magical glow worms—a reminder of God's wonderous creation and the beauty of exploration.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our staff, who went above and beyond to ensure the success of the camp. Special thanks to Mrs Kohler for her culinary expertise and to all the staff members who generously gave their time and energy to make this experience truly unforgettable for our students.

We are looking forward to a great day!

Staying Connected

Here at DCS we love to keep parents informed about things at school. This is done six ways:

  • Our DCS School app
  • Our Schoolbox website platform
  • Our weekly online school newsletter
  • Private year level Facebook groups
  • Connection and email discussion with your child's classroom teachers
  • Information from your child shared to home

The DCS App provides the best way to have a heads up and keep informed about current events and what is coming up.  Every current parent or carer is encouraged to have this on their personal device, to become familiar with how it works and to check it on a regular basis (at least weekly). You can even set it up so that you receive notifications (or do not set them up if that is your preference) when something is added. The information below can assist you with setting up the app on your phone. You will need you parent Schoolbox login details to save into the app so you do not need to login each time you open the App on your device.

As well as providing a quick link to Schoolbox news items, the DCS App has quick links to your child's timetable, classes, the school calendar, and a very quick and easy way to inform the school should your child be absent.

If you need help with connecting into the app, have a question and you do not know who to ask, need support or prayer, our DCS Community connection person is Jasmin Thompson. Jasmin is available and very happy to assist from Wednesday-Friday.

Our prayer is to be a community and have people connected. The best way to be in community is to be informed and receive news and information to help connect you into our community.
