Celebrating Learning
Photo day was on Friday 15th March. We had photos in the last session, and it was quicker than it was last year. We are looking forward to seeing our whole class photo.
Orchestra is still going strong! We are rehearsing a bunch of songs and it’s coming along nicely.
The Grade 5s had NAPLAN over the last two weeks. It was less stressful than expected.
We have been revising our reading, writing and maths in between NAPLAN and specialists.
We have been exploring ‘Date Maths’ as a warmup in our maths lessons over the last few weeks. It has been great to challenge ourselves and see if we can progress each day. We take the digits of the date and try to make number sentences using the four operations. We can only use each digit the number of times it appears in the date, and we don’t need to use all the digits each time. We can also use any or all of the operations as needed. We start by making a number sentence that is equal to one, then two and so on.
You might like to have a go!
Here is an example. If it is the 19th March 2024, we can use the digits 1, 9, 0, 3, 2, 0, 2, 4 (take from the short date 10/03/2024).
How many number sentences can you create in 10 minutes?
