Pancakes on Tuesday Mornings

Every Tuesday morning throughout Lent, the Edmund Rice Society will be cooking pancakes and hash browns from 7:30 am onwards. Pancakes and hash browns will be a gold coin donation each. All donations will be put towards Project Compassion, which supports Caritas Australia.

Ash Wednesday

Last week students participated in Ash Wednesday Liturgies and a Mass to mark the beginning of the Lenten season. As we commence Lent, it is important to remind ourselves of the three Lenten pillars; giving, fasting, and praying.

Chinese Lunar New Year

Last Wednesday, the Year 12 students studying Chinese welcomed the New Year with a speech in Mandarin.

Saturday 10 February marked the beginning of Chinese New Year. There are twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac and this year is the year of the dragon. The dragon symbolises courage, tenacity, and intelligence. Chinese New Year is celebrated for fifteen days and concludes with the Lantern Festival. The new year is greeted with a family reunion dinner on the eve and exchange of red envelopes. Certain auspicious foods are consumed during the Spring Festival due to their symbolic meaning. Dumplings and spring rolls represent wealth, while fish represents prosperity.

May the Lunar New Year bring you and your family good health, happiness, and prosperity.

Swimming Carnival

The Junior and Senior School Swimming Carnivals, held last Wednesday and Thursday, were a splashing success! Students throughout the year groups showcased their skills and team spirit with record-breaking performances on the day. Cheers, laughter, and competitive spirit filled the pool as Purton House (Junior School) and Treacy House (Senior School) took home gold.
