Pi Day
π𝜋 is a constant value of 3.14159265359… but more commonly known to be 3.14. Every year on March 14th, Pi Day is celebrated by math enthusiasts all around the world, and yes, our school community got involved!
We had a Pi recital competition where 15 students went up onto the stage in the quad at lunchtime and recited the digits of Pi to see who could recite the most. Our winner was Aimee L-N in Year 7, who was able to recite 209 digits! Her prize was a whole chocolate pie.
Our next highest result was 100 digits, with third place 99 digits, all of which were very impressive. The students were very brave getting up to publicly recite the digits of Pi.
Our second competition was to guess the circumference of the stage in the quad. The winner was Rayan S in Year 7 who also won a whole chocolate pie.
Much fun was had by all, as evidenced by these photos!
