Music update

New Instrumental Music students 

Eighty students have chosen to better themselves by signing up to Instrumental lessons and ensemble. The new Year 7 and 8 students had their first lesson during week 5 of this term. Experienced students and Voice students have already begun in ensembles while beginner string, woodwind, brass and percussion students will begin in their ensembles in the first week back next term.  

Beginner Concert Band will begin on Monday, 15th April after school in H3 with Mr. Corcoran. Band will begin straight after school and finish at 4.15pm.

Beginner Strings will begin on Wednesday, 17th May with Ms. Sommerville in H3 at lunchtime.               

Ensemble Leaders  

Congratulations to all of our ensemble leaders. Ensemble Leaders will be helping out at rehearsals by helping warm up the ensemble, help distribute music, introduce items at concerts and convey messages about upcoming performances. Congratulations to the following students:

Top Class Music  

Years 10, 11 and 12 music students had the privilege of attending this year’s Top Class Music event at the Recital Centre in Southbank. Students attended two concerts on the day where they saw many of the top performers from the 2023 cohort, perform a piece from their program.  It is a wonderful opportunity for students to understand what it takes to gain a top mark in their Year 12 music subject. A great day was had by all.  

Winter Concert Series 

The Junior and Senior Winter Concerts will be held in the final week of Term 2. Tickets for the two concerts will be through TryBooking and will be available three weeks before the events. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
