Principal's News

Where every child is known, challenged and supported to be lifelong learners.

Dear Parents and Friends of St Brigid’s,

Enrolment Real Estate Boards

A big thank you to Matt and Ari (Daphne Year 4) who have kindly offered to have our Enrolment Board placed on their fence. Having these boards helps to get our name out in the community which will expose our lovely school to more families. We have one board left so if there is another family that lives on a reasonably busy street in our area can you please let either Tracey or myself know.  We appreciate the support you always show us.

 Playground Start Date

Well, the date has nearly arrived! Our new playground is starting next week (Friday 15th March). The first stage of the transformation is the demolition of the old playground. We will have temporary fences around the playground for approximately 2 weeks. We are certainly looking forward to seeing our new playground taking shape.

Principal Conference

Week 7 sees me off site for 4 days for professional learning at a Conference in Lorne. This Conference is to continue to enhance/extend my leadershi. We will hear from successful people who will share their journey with us. In my absence the school will be left in the capable hands of Jodie, my Deputy Principal who will be supported by the leadership team. I will still be in contact with the school and will be available via email.

Celebration of Learning

This year we have decided to introduce “Celebration of Learning”. Our children do amazing work and we are so privileged to see this work (and the children’s enthusiasm) that we want to share it with our families. We will celebrate this learning once per term. This term our students will share their learning on Monday 25 March between 2:15 and 3:15pm. Each year level will set up their learnings in the mornings, ready for other classes and parents to come and join us to see our amazing work in the afternoon.

  • Foundation will set up in their classroom
  • Years 1/2 will set up in the hall
  • Years 3/4 will set up in the spare classroom and the hallway
  • Years 5/6 will set up in the upstairs space

We look forward to seeing you at this “Celebration of Learning “.

School closure

Our school closure day for Term 1 is on Friday (tomorrow). The staff will be particpating in professional learning in the areas of Religious Education and Wellbeing. We will be heading into the city to learn about Mary McKillop and her faith journey and celebrating Mass at the oldest church in Melbourne - St Francis in Lonsdale Street.

Enrolments for 2025

Enrolments for 2025 are now open. If you have a child joining St Brigid’s next year, please come to the office and pick up an enrolment pack.  Enrolments for Foundation 2025 close on Friday 26th April.

TheirCare Holiday Program

BOOK YOUR HOLIDAY PROGRAM SPOT TODAY!

As the term comes to an end (3 weeks to go), it is time to book into the Theircare Holiday Program. Please book in as soon as possible because if we do not have enough numbers it is not viable for them to open. The earlier you book in the sooner we will know if the Holiday Program will go ahead. If you wait until the last minute to book, unfortunately it may be too late as a decision as whether the program runs is usually made a fortnight out from the holiday.

Easter Raffle Donations

Easter is fast approaching and as always we have our annual Easter Egg Raffle. We receive such a wonderful amount of eggs, Easter craft activities and other Easter decorations that this year the SBSquad have decided to donate some prizes to a charity and to assemble a hamper to take across to Nixon House.

Send your donation in - we can’t wait to see if we can fill the foyer and make Tracey disappear behind a sea of Easter decorations - Tracey says it is her favourite time of the year!  Eggs etc can start coming in anytime from now!

Raffle tickets will be sent home to families next week.  Also don't forget our Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser.  See the Social Squad page for all the details.

Easter Bonnet Parade

Get your thinking bonnets on! We would like you all to create an Easter bonnet to wear on Holy Thursday 28th March. We will have an Easter Bonnet parade at 9am so the bonnets do not get damaged. We will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for the best decorated bonnet.

District Swimming

Congratulations to the St Brigid's Swim team who represented our school at the Mordialloc District Swimming Carnival last week.  We are very proud of everyone who made the team and represented our school.

A big congratulations to Eva G and Torin C who came 2nd in their events. Eva came 2nd in the 9/10 girls Breaststroke and Torin came 2nd in the 9/10 boys Freestyle.

Overall our school came 7th and we are very proud of our team. Well done everyone.
