Principal's Report

Helmets

We were very concerned last week to hear that some Gardenvale students had been seen riding, to and from school, on the local streets not wearing a helmet. We are asking all parents, that they remind their child that they must wear a helmet!

School Council Nominations

School Council elections are underway and the closing dates for parent nominations are next Tuesday, 27th February. Forms are available at the Senior Campus office.  Please note, if we have more nominations than places, those nominating for Council will be asked to provide a short paragraph, of 100 words approximately, that introduces them to the school community (for use in the newsletter etc.)

District Swimming

This Thursday, 28 of our Year 4 to 6 students will represent the school at the District Swimming Carnival at the GSAC complex. We wish them well and am sure they will swim their best for themselves and the school.

Working Bees

Maintaining and improving our school grounds is an important and ongoing issue. We are so grateful and proud of the support we always receive from our School Community for our Working Bees. The dates for this year’s working bees are as follows: -

Term 1Years 2 and 6 (Both Campuses)Sunday 17th March
Term 2Years 1 and 5 (Both Campuses)Sunday 19th May
Term 3 Prep and Year 4 (Both Campuses)Sunday 18th August
Term 4

Year 3 (Senior Campus Only)

Whole School (Both Campuses)

Sunday 20th October

Sunday 17th November

Parents are most welcome to attend any Working Bee, not just the one designated to their child/children’s year level.

Dogs in School Grounds

Parents are reminded that dogs are not allowed in school grounds whilst dropping off or collecting children. We ask that families please leave their pet dogs at home or safely tether them outside school grounds when attending our school or school events. This is a safety measure to protect both students (and dogs) from the excitement of these times.

Have a lovely week,

Janine Hall
