Stage 2 Excursion

Kamay Bay

Monday March 25 + Thursday March 29

On Monday March 25 and Thursday March 29 Stage 2 students got to visit Kamay Bay in the Royal National Park to support and learn more about their science topic of environments.

Students went on a walk through the bush land and found out about the many ways in which plants can be used including those that could be eaten, those that can prevent mosquito bites and those that were used by indigenous people to weave baskets. They saw a wide variety of animal habitats including termite nests and beehives and were informed about how the animals used the bush land together.

Students were also given the opportunity to learn about beach environments. They explored rock pools and found crabs, coral, sea anemones and even starfish living in these tiny habitats. Students learnt mapping skills and used land cues to help orientate themselves to the environment around them

The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and represented Peakhurst Public School proudly.
