The Sign is Up – We’re a 2-Star RSS School!
We’re excited to announce that our school has officially achieved two stars in the ResourceSmart Schools (RSS) program. This achievement is the result of years of hard work and dedication from our entire school community. A big thank you to everyone involved.
The Eco Club was thrilled when the new sign went up (thank you Graham), though they were surprised we only had two stars! While I explained that achieving the stars is quite challenging, they have motivated me to keep pushing forward with both the energy and biodiversity modules that are next on the list.
Our school is already highly energy-efficient, with a large solar power system and recently getting completely off gas. With the help of our Landcare grant, we’re also creating a Frog Bog and outdoor learning space, which will contribute to our biodiversity efforts.
The Eco Club has also been busy in the veggie garden, which is thriving despite being planted in the heat! The goal is not only to grow food to eat but also to demonstrate the effort and water required to grow food. This highlights the importance of not wasting it – something I struggle with in my own kitchen so it's been a great reminder for me.
