Focus on French

Bonjour!
Here is a summary of what we have studied in the French classroom. Classes from Years 1 to 6 have been busy revising questions and answers related to personal information.
Year 1 Students
Students worked on name and age. They danced to an African children song from Congo called ‘Coco Laye Laye’ and practised asking and telling their names. They revised how to ask and tell their age.
Year 2 Students
Year 2 students also revised asking and telling their names, age and stating their favourite colour. They completed a poster that they used to present themselves to their classmates.
They also learned a new song - listen to the video below.
Year 3 Students
Students also worked on personal information. They practised questions and answers about themselves. They had to imagine a character, draw it and add speech bubbles in French.
Year 4 Students
Students practised their questions and answers on the same topic of personal information. They are currently practising a dialogue that they will present to some classmates.
Year 5 Students
Year 5 added some translation work when revising the topic of personal information. They enjoyed taking part in the “translation race” team game played outdoors. They are now creating a dialogue in pairs, using the vocabulary studied as a frame.
Year 6 Students
Year 6 students have revised how to ask and tell their names, where they live, their age, and things they like. They are preparing their own original comic strip, with two characters meeting for the first time, asking and answering questions to introduce themselves.
Students have also been preparing Harmony Day activities, some of them sacrificing part of their Friday lunch play to plan their activity!
Foundation Students
Last but not least, Foundation students have learnt a song called ‘Bonjour’, that they can now sing without any help! They have practised asking and telling their names through different action games. They are now learning to count to six in French.
