Representative Trials

Dennis L, Ethan G, Hudson S, Davis V and Hugo H recently competed at the MacKillop Swimming Trials  at Sydney Olympic Park. We had our junior boys relay competing with Ethan, Hudson, Davis and Hugo while Dennis competed in the 11yrs 50m Breaststroke. Our junior boys finished in 5th place, a remarkable achievement at this level. This is third school swimming events the boys have competed at this year and we couldn't be any more proud of them.

Congratulations to Noah VD who has secured a spot in the MacKillop AFL team and Xavier E for the MacKillop Hockey Team. Congratulations to Lana B who was selected as part of the Sydney Girls Football team to compete at the MacKillop Girls Football trial. Lila and Rebecca this week also competed at the Sydney Touch Football Trials. Lila has been extremely busy this week as she received a call up for the MacKillop Netball trials as part of the Sydney Catholic Schools Team in which Lila is travelling to Canberra for this event. Finally Harry W will give it his best at the upcoming Sydney Rugby Union Trials. Good luck to all our talented sporting athletes at St Pat's!

Sydney Cross Country Championships

This year we had 28 students attend the Sydney Cross Country Championships held at Sydney Motor Sports Park, Eastern Creek. This is a large event hosted by Sydney Catholic Schools and one that always runs effortlessly. Our students ran through the race track, determined to cross the finish line. Every students gave their all, pushing their personal limits and supporting one another on the day. Miss Devlin and Mrs Col noticed above all the proud representation our students displayed for St Patrick's. A big shout out to Abby and Jordan who will be progressing to the next round. Noah, Rocco, Piper and Dane also placed in the top 10 for our conference!

INTERSCHOOL SPORT Term 2

Due to the very wet start to the school term our Year 6 plus Level 1 Football Gala Day was cancelled. At this point their is no rescheduled date for this event and instead the continuation (Round 2) of this Gala day which has already been shared on COMPASS will act as the sole Gala day for this event.

Year 5 however were able to enjoy their Football Gala Day this week as grounds are starting to dry up. Students along with their peers and teachers had a very enjoyable time at this event. Next week we will see Year 3 enjoy their Football Gala day.

League Tag Trials for Stage 3 Level 1

Last term parents had the opportunity to sign their child up for the level 1 sport trials for the 2025 interschool season. Now that Football is well underway we will now commence the trial process for League Tag. The trial for the Boys League Tag will be this Monday 12th May in the afternoon session. All trialists must wear their full sports uniform and only the nominated students will be trialing. Our level 1 girls will trial on Monday 26th May also in the afternoon session. If our teachers haven't made a final decision during this trial time, student will be shortlisted and notified of a potential secondary trial. Miss Devlin has confirmed the trialist list with all stage 3 students.

K-1 Athletics Carnival

The K-1 Athletics Carnival was a day brimming with excitement, energy, and community spirit. Our youngest athletes showcased their incredible enthusiasm and determination as they participated in a variety of events, from running races to fun novelty challenges like sack races and beanbag tosses. The smiles and cheers echoed across the field, as students celebrated their achievements and supported their friends. Parents and teachers joined in the fun, creating an atmosphere of encouragement and camaraderie. The carnival truly highlighted the joy of active participation and the value of teamwork, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories.

Athletics Carnival

What a great event for the 2025 Athletics Carnival.  It was a fun, school and community event but also a day for our students to showcase their talent out on the track and field. We were also blessed with perfect weather conditions.

A big thank you to our parent helpers for assisting our teachers and officials at stations. Your help is greatly appreciated. It was lovely to see many parent spectators to support our children in all events. Our students displayed great sportsmanship and everyone had the opportunity to be involved in this day.

Another special mention to our 2025 Sport Captains for leading your houses throughout the day. What great leadership and role models you are for all students. Your involvement, dedication and willingness to always offer a helping hand makes all the difference.

Finally the great staff at St Pat's always go above and beyond to ensure our students have a great day. Our teachers danced, cheered and raced throughout the day.

Below are the overall results from the timed and measured events. Our 1st place winners, if meeting the qualifying measured/timed, will progress to the Conference Carnival and in some track events, our top 2 progress. Students who have progressed to the Conference Trial on Tuesday 5th August 2025 will receive notes next term.

INTERSCHOOL SPORT OVERVIEW

This document has been shared with families of Years 3-6 which contains an overview of all Sydney Catholic Schools Interschool Sport for Stage 2 and 3 throughout 2025.

SCS Sporting Pathways - Representative

The Representative Pathway Sports will continue into Term 1 2025 with many sports already in the MacKillop Trial stage. This is because the representative sport calendar season with Sydney Catholic Schools runs from Term 4 2024 to Term 3 2025.

Year 5 and Year 6 students have the opportunity to represent St Patrick’s at trials to progress through the pathway system. The sports they will be able to trial for are varied and many are open to both boys and girls.

To be considered for selection to represent St Patrick’s students require experience and to be playing the sport as a registered player at a high level of skill outside of school. This should be in the form of a regular, structured rep, Division 1 or equivalent A level competition. Parents had the opportunity to nominate their child via an electronic form last year. This form will be re-sent during Term 3 2025 to gather any new or updated information regarding your child's sport involvement outside of school. Nominations for this sports calendar season have closed as trials have commenced.

When a student attends a Conference Pathway Sporting event it is important that they take the documentation supplied by the school with them. Parents will also need to provide consent via COMPASS. Your child may not be allowed to compete without the form. Your child will also be given a representative St Patrick's Jersey/Shirt to wear in which they will need to wash and return after the trial.

If there is a change in your child's attendance to one of these events please email amanda.col@syd.catholic.edu.au so I can make the necessary arrangements to withdraw your child from this event. This is to ensure an accurate record on COMPASS and for the smooth running of the trial event.

COMMUNITY SPORT

Congratulations to Isabella D who competed at the NSW State Calisthenics Graceful Competition on the weekend. Not only did Isabella place but she was the only NSW competitor to receive a podium finish. Congratulations Isabella in achieving 3rd place.
