Principal's Message

Ms Louise Reynolds

Congratulations on 10 weeks of learning!

What a wonderful term - full of building joy across our school! Students settled back into routines well and have engaged in a range of learning both in and outside of the classroom. Today's Celebration Assembly was a lovely chance to recognise our collective achievements and take some time to celebrate success!

This morning I shared the 3 main elements we've worked on this term - to build our whole school theme around JOY:

Firstly, we believe in Celebrating Achievements. Recognising the hard work and successes of our students is essential. Whether it’s through award ceremonies or shout-outs in our newsletters, we strive to create an environment where every achievement, big or small, is acknowledged. When students feel recognised and valued - that, inspires joy.

I have seen success across every classroom - from students learning to read through to students creating a whole school newspaper!

Next, we are committed to Encouraging Creativity and Play. We know that learning is not just about facts; it’s about exploring and expressing yourself. By integrating art, music, drama, and outdoor play into our curriculum, we provide students with opportunities to discover their passions and talents – creating a joyful school.

We have increased our art on display, chosen wonderful Dance and Choir teams, offered Basketball clinics and PPSA - and opened our classrooms to families to Come and Play!

Finally, we focus on Building Community Connections and Relationships. A strong sense of community plays a vital role in our students' happiness. Through community events and opportunities for parent involvement, we foster connections among students, staff, and families. When everyone feels supported and connected, joy flourishes.

Our Community BBQ last week was a huge success and we've had our Grapple Expo and families coming into classrooms. Our Kindy students had a First Nations incursion learning all about connecting and belonging.

Together, these elements create a joyful learning environment across GEPS - where all of our students can thrive.

Thank you to students, staff and families for supporting our whole school journey of making learning a place of joy!

Finally

A letter from John Kennedy, Director, Educational Leadership Auburn Network:

Many of you know that I will be stepping out of GEPS for a little while in term 2 and 3…I’ve been asked to relieve as Principal at Croydon Public School while their principal is on leave. I’ll be returning in term 4.

My Director, John Kennedy, has sent out an expression of interest to fill my role. This will be finalized first week back next term and I will hand-over to the reliving principal to ensure a smooth transition for the school.

Granville East is in a great position – with amazing staff, supportive parents and very focused students – you will continue growing and learning and I can’t wait to see the great achievements you’ve made when I return in term 4!

Have a relaxing 2 week break. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Wednesday 30th April for our ANZAC service in the Hall.
