School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships
A school based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT) can open a world of career pathways for students. Through an SBAT in skills shortage areas including Automotive, Early Childhood Education & Care, Housing & Infrastructure or Aged Care, students can future-proof their career.

The Year 10 and 11 students from the Stars Foundation at Inverell High School were provided with the opportunity to explore school based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT) options during Week 1 of Term 2. The SBAT Presentations included information about:-
what is a SBAT
examples of a school based traineeships
and school based apprenticeship including how they would work
general information about the upcoming Djinggi (Department of Education) SBAT Program
what the students can do to gain a SBAT including undertaking work experience
things to consider
and the proposed timeline to gain a SBAT.
Thanks to IHS Careers Advisor, Mrs Kearni Reynolds, for organising the students attendance at the presentations. Also thank you to IHS Aboriginal Education Officer, Mrs Valda Missen and Stars Foundation staff, Mrs Bernice McGrady, Miss Kylie Saunders and Ms Lenikki Craigie for their ongoing support of these students and their encouragement for the students to achieve their goals!

Year 12s Explore UNE
On Friday 2nd May severial of our Year 12 students braved the cool Armidale weather to attend the University of New England’s annual Open Day.
From faculty presentations and interactive activities to college tours and hands-on workshops, the day offered a taste of university life and the wide range of future study options available.
Students returned feeling inspired, informed, and more confident about the exciting possibilities ahead.
