Headphones

If your child has headphones that connect to their iPad, it would be great if you could have a clear label with their name on them and bring them to school each day. This will assist with when using iPads, recording our voice and completing tasks on Nessy, Mathseeds or Mathletics.

📚 Phonemic awareness: reading and phonics

Please see below our phonics focus for this week and our literacy focus. 

 

Grade One Students 

Grade One's will be continuing our work on digraphs with lesson 50 which focuses on wh /w/ and ph /f/ and lesson 51 focusing on ng.

 📖✏️Literacy

Mentor Text:   Afloat by Kirli Saunders

 

Students will be looking at this book to explore the vocabulary used by the author and examine how the images can help us tell the story.

 

What can you do at home?

-When reading stories together notice any interesting words and discuss its meaning, ask is it an adjective, noun or verb? 

-Chat and notice any interesting nouns and adjectives around you.

-Read your take home book and record how you went with your reading. 

-Ask comprehension questions about your child's take home book.

 

➕Maths

Grade One and Two students will revising and building on their place value knowledge. 

 

What can you do at home?

-Continue to skip count by 2s, 5s and 10 orally when counting objects 

-Compare different numbers - which is bigger or smaller? How do you know?

 

🌏 CBL - Diversity 

Students will be introduced to our new Big Idea of 'Diversity.' This week e will make wonderings and try to build an understanding of what the word diversity means.

 

Wellbeing - Cyber Safety Project.

We were visited by Kristy and Kiah today, who talked to us about our digital wellbeing and finding a healthy balance about using a technology and doing other activities.
