PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MRS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

Welcome to Term 2. I trust that you and your families enjoyed a restful break and made the most of the beautiful autumn weather. It is evident that the seasons are a testament to the diversity of creation.

It was a pleasure to participate in the Swan Hill RSL ANZAC Day service on Friday. Although the event was relocated indoors due to weather conditions, the RSL members conducted a meaningful and respectful service. Our school captains, Koby McMillan and Brooke Pearson, did an excellent job assisting with the emceeing, and Charli Lovell and Bella Henderson represented our school by laying a wreath. Congratulations to Billy O’Toole, who was invited to be the guest speaker and shared his reflections on his recent Kokoda Trail experience. We also appreciate the many families who attended, whether in Swan Hill or other towns. We remember and honor the sacrifices made by our armed forces, both past and present, in ensuring our safety. Our school held an ANZAC service at 10:50 am on Thursday, 24th April.

Vehicle movement around the College

This is a reminder to parents and guardians regarding the safety procedures for dropping off and picking up students around the school premises. We recognise that parking can be challenging near the school; however, it is essential that students are dropped off and collected in designated safe areas.

Observations include:

- Vehicles stopping in bus zones

- Vehicles stopping within the no-stopping zones at the school crossing

- Students exiting vehicles that are stopped on the roadway

- Students crossing the street independently when being dropped off, rather than using the designated school crossing

We kindly request that all families dropping off students in the morning utilise Rutherford Street, where there is a designated bus bay (indicated in yellow in the diagram below). This area must remain clear in the afternoon to accommodate school buses, but is clear in the morning. The walk from Rutherford Street is brief and manageable for students.

In the afternoon, all school buses depart from the site at 3:20pm. Please delay arriving to pick up your child until after this time, or consider instructing your child to walk to a safer location, such as Rutherford Street west of High Street.

Please be aware of the following penalties for traffic violations:

- Stopping in a bus zone: up to $387 fine and 2 demerit points

- Stopping too close to a school crossing: $183 fine

- Speeding up to 10 km/h over the 40 km/h limit around the school: up to $494 fine

We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the safety of all students by parking appropriately, using designated pick-up and drop-off areas, and encouraging children to utilize the school crossing.
