St Brigid's News and Events

WELLBEING NEWS
Last week, on Friday, March 21, we recognised Harmony Day; students and staff were encouraged to wear a ‘touch’ of orange. The theme this year was “Everyone Belongs.” Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity and promotes inclusiveness and respect.
St Brigid’s Reading Corner
Introducing The Reading Corner! Over the last few weeks, we have noticed a few children enjoying reading during lunch and snack times. This is a fantastic way to enjoy the fresh air at break times. It would be great if the students who want to read outside during their breaks did it together. We invite students to bring their books to the decking area outside the Library. They can read, chat about their books and relax together.
St Brigid’s Choir
We are very very excited to announce that beginning in Term 2, we will be starting a St Brigid’s Choir. Students are invited to come to the Library on a Monday lunchtime (first half) and join Mrs Thredgold for a sing-along!
Mini Vinnies
We are proud to announce the 2025 Minni Vinnies Leaders. Minni Vinnies is a group of Year 4 students who promote the work of St Vincent de Paul in our school. Students will meet with Mrs Thredgold throughout the year to learn about social justice issues, develop leadership skills and brainstorm ways the school can help others in need. Third Week of Lent -
(Week beginning Monday 24 March)
Lam is 27 years old from a small village in rural Vietnam who faced significant challenges due to his short stature. Growing up, Lam often felt isolated due to limited job Opportunities and difficulty moving around his community. While his friends started jobs after high school, Lam stayed home with his parents, unsure if he could ever achieve his dream of becoming a graphic designer.
Everything changed when Lam joined the I-SHINE program, supported by Caritas Australia. Through this initiative, Lam completed a six-month course developing his graphic design skills. Along the way, he built confidence, made friends and gained a sense of connection.
Today, Lam runs a successful freelance graphic design business from home, serving clients worldwide and earning a steady income. Lam hopes his story will encourage other young people with disabilities to overcome obstacles and pursue their dreams.
Lam’s journey shows how your support of Project Compassion empowers individuals to break barriers and transform their lives.
Please return your Project Compassion boxes by next week.
