Performing Arts 

Foundation

Foundation students have developed their understanding of the routines and expectations in Performing Arts. They have developed their turn taking, listening, sharing and feedback skills to create a safe and supportive learning environment. Students have developed their confidence in Music through singing and playing instruments, and creating songs. 

 

Year 1 and 2

Year 1 and 2  students have developed their knowledge of the different musical elements through listening and composing music. They have made connections about the music they are hearing and the visual representation of different environments. Students have composed music inspired by feelings and images, both individually and in small groups. 

 

Year 3 and 4

Year 3 and 4 students have deepened their knowledge of the different musical elements including musical notation through listening and responding to music.  They have used notation to document and share simple rhythms. Students have composed music to share and express feelings and ideas. They have explored playing a variety of instruments to create different sounds. 

Year 5 and 6

Year 5 and 6 students have listened to and analysed music to further develop  their understanding of the elements of music including dynamics, tempo, and instrumentation, and how they can create different emotions. They have used this understanding  to plan for and compose their own music. Students have used GarageBand to record themselves playing instruments, and listen to their compositions.
