Be Kind, Be safe, Be respectful, Be responsible, Be resilient, Be ready
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are very proud of our Social Justice Team and the work they have been doing. At present the team is working with Vinnies to promote their annual ‘Can Drive’, which will help many members of our local community
Why should we teach about social justice?
Teaching about social justice in a Catholic school aligns with core Catholic values and principles, making it an essential part of the curriculum. Here's why it is particularly important in this context:
Catholic social teaching emphasises the dignity of every person, solidarity, and the preferential option for the poor and vulnerable. Educating students about social justice embodies these values and encourages them to live out their faith in meaningful ways.
Following Jesus' example of love and care for others, especially the marginalized, teaching social justice helps students grow in empathy and inspires them to take action for the greater good.
A Catholic education seeks to develop not just the mind but also the heart. Understanding social justice issues allows students to critically examine their responsibilities in building a just and compassionate society.
By integrating faith with action, students learn to become agents of positive change.
As you have probably heard we have had a wonderful GaGa pit installed. This was sponsored by the local Rotary Club and installed with the help of the local Village High School. We are now looking into suitable materials to have in the base of the pit. I apologise for the dusty shoes and clothes and assure you the dust will be rectified as soon as we can!!
It has been wonderful watching the students learn the rules as well as learning to be resilient when they go out. Thank you to our senior students who have been acting as referees to keep the peace!
Keep Smiling
Cathy
