Year 11 Bloomshed Incursion 

On Wednesday 26th of March our VCE Unit 1 students attended an incursion with The Bloomshed - a Melbourne based theatre group which specialise in devising new works from classic mentor texts. The day focused on teaching students how to write creatively from various stimulus, workshopping their writing with the help of peers and refining ideas through the Bloomshed devising process. 

The day was a success, with students creating a variety of works to help them on their journey towards their Crafting Texts SAC in a few weeks time. 

Live4Life

We are thrilled to again be involved in the Wellington Live4Life partnership. For those who aren’t familiar, Live4Life is an evidence-based community impact model for improving youth mental health and reducing suicide across rural and regional communities. Live4Life builds young people’s capacity to recognise and seek help, and offer help, for mental health concerns and builds the capacity of the whole community to look after and support their young people. 

This is the second year that Live4Life has been rolled out across the Wellington Shire. All Year 8 students across all of the Wellington Shire Based secondary schools undertake Teen Mental Health First Aid training which aims to support teens to recognise mental health problems, learn strategies to support a friend who may be experiencing a mental health problem and what to do/where to go if help is needed. 

The Teen Mental Health First Aid Training will be delivered to the Year 8’s in the second half of Term 2 and to our Year 10’s in Term 3. The official Live4Life Wellington Launch Day is happening on May 30th and will bring the Year 8’s from all Wellington school’s together for a day of fun. More details to come!
