Year 2/3

Our term culminated in watching Matilda, the movie. We read the book as a class and used it as inspiration to write narratives and towards the end of this term, it sparked debate about the use of corporal punishment in school. It was surprising how many children argued for corporal punishment to be reinstated. We were quite divided about whether or not parents should be allowed to smack their children. We read about the rights of children as decreed by Unicef and used these as evidence to increase the persuasiveness of our writing.

We completed our artworks based on the art of illustrator and author Jon Luc Fromental. We used the book Bonesville as inspiration to learn about the skeleton and modelled some artworks on the illustrations. Jon Luc uses bright colours on monotone backgrounds with a splash of white illustrations. I have provided a few examples of what we achieved.
