From The Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 8 of the term and what a term it has been so far. So many events and engaging activities that it is hard to believe we have fitted them to this 10 week term. Last week and this week our Grade 3 and Grade 5 students have been participating in the NAPLAN testing. Our students have been well prepared for this occasion and have been completing them in our classrooms. Our teachers have been impressed with the effort and commitment our students have shown in the testing.

Over the past few weeks our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students (70 interested) have begun their tryouts for Energy Breakthrough. This year we are entering 3 teams again (22-24 students) to participate in the Energy Breakthrough competition. Our team will be selected after students have been through the tryout process. Leading the teams in 2025 will be Mr Zerafa and Mrs Jones.

Staffing update

At the end of this term, we will have some minor staffing changes. Mr Shorter will be taking on a new challenge outside of education and will not return for the rest of the year.  In his replacement we have appointed Mrs Kari O’Gorman who will provide an Asian Cultural program as opposed to a Chinese Language program.

We also welcome to our educational support team the following staff. Rebel Anwyl and Teilo Bentley move from casual employment with the school to ongoing staff and we welcome two new educational support staff in Rosina Loverso and Sienna Thomassen.  Rosina and Sienna will begin in Term 2.

DELACOMBE PS SCHOOL FETE FRIDAY 28TH MARCH 4.30 - 7.30PM

In just over a week we will be holding our bi-annual school fete.  At the moment we have a large number of stalls that will be operating on the night of our Delacombe PS Fete.  There is a variety of food stalls, games and rides and activities for kids to do on the night but the majority of the stalls will be cash only.

The Fete fundraising will go towards the planned Grade 5-6 playground for 2026.  The anticipated cost of this will be approximately $150,000 to remove the current one and install a new one.
