VICTORIAN PREMIERS’ READING CHALLENGE
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is approaching the halfway mark. We have approximately 100 days remaining. The challenge is for students to read 15 books between now and September.
A reminder to students to register any new books they have read to their tally.
Students who have read the required number of ‘personal choice’ books and require assistance to select ‘challenge’ books please contact the library team for assistance.

ONLINE NEWSPAPERS
The library provides students with access to a range of online resources including online newspapers.
The Age Library Edition provides a digital replica of the daily print newspaper and an archive that goes back to 2006. This resource provides scope to research current events as well as explore the history of a particular topic.
The library also provides students with online access to The Australian and the Herald Sun as well as other metropolitan and regional newspapers. Students can browse articles or read the digital replica (Today’s Paper):

Chemistry for Breakfast
Dr Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim holds a doctorate in chemistry and is a science journalist and author. Chemistry for Breakfast is a quirky romp through everyday science.
Over the course of a single day, Mai shows us that amazing science happens everywhere. In the morning, her partner's much-too-loud alarm prompts a deep dive into biological clocks and fight-or-flight responses, followed by a coffee with a side of heat conduction and states of matter. Mai continues with explainers of cell phone technology, food preservation, body odor and the effects of alcohol.
VICTORIAN PREMIERS’ LITERARY AWARDS
The winners of the Victorian Premiers’ Literary Awards were recently announced. In the category of Writing for Young Adults the winner was Anomaly by Emma Lord. This dystopian fiction is a high octane survival story.
