Prep
The Prep students are starting a new topic, family members, and will prepare a family tree, once they have memorised the vocabulary.
- Grade 1/2:
As part of our topic, body parts, the students learnt about the giant marionettes made in my home city (Nantes). They watched a couple of videos and found out about the story of the Giant Little Girl and the Giant Diver who came to Perth in 2015 to commemorate the Centenary of ANZAC.
In preparation for their portfolio, the students are making two paper marionettes and labelling the body parts that they have memorised.
Note: Royal de Luxe is a French street theatre company known for its giant mechanical marionettes. They are a renowned group of street artists who have become an iconic force in the world of street theatre. The company's puppets are typically between 6 and 11 metres tall and are made of poplar wood. Each marionette is operated by a team of 20 to 40 people called Lilliputians.
The Arts
Visual Arts
Students from across all year levels have been preparing work to be featured at our open night. Senior students have been making either a South American rain stick, a Japanese fan, or an origami scene, tying in with our multicultural theme. Middle school have been exploring Yayoi Kusama's work and ancient European mosaics, while junior students have been creating paper collages of the flags of the world.
