Secondary School

Baudin Day

Today was Baudin Day, which we celebrated in great style across the campus. Everyone dressed in pink, and we raised money to support the McGrath Foundation. A huge thank you to Mr Ferreira and the Baudin students for all their work in preparation for the day, including baking at home and in boarding houses to create a cake stall outside the Pratten Centre at recess.

It was wonderful to see all the Primary students visiting the Pratten Centre and sharing recess with the Secondary students. At lunchtime, we had fun in the gym, with the Year Twelve Baudin students taking on a staff team in floorball. It was a great community-building day.

Cross Country

This term, we are hosting our whole school Cross Country event on the last day of term, on Friday 11 April. The whole school will be there and we hope to see a lot of parents. The Secondary students will be supporting the Primary students during their races, which start at 10.00am, and there will be novelty events and games that include students of all ages.

The Cross Country event will conclude by 1.15pm, and parents attending may choose to take their child home afterwards. For students who remain at school, afternoon activities will be organised, and the school day will end as usual. Scheduling Cross Country on the last day of term was not only intended to mark the end of term with a whole-school celebration but also to accommodate our boarding parents. Often unable to attend major school carnivals, they may find this event an opportunity to visit campus and take their children home afterwards. We hope to see many parents and grandparents joining us to celebrate the conclusion of a busy and joyful term.

Easter Service and Assembly in Week Ten

In Week Ten, we will host our Easter Service during the normal Assembly period, at 10.15am on Monday 7 April. I would like to invite parents to this event, as it is a special service hosted by the Principal, Mr Irving, to prepare us for the Easter break. It is a good time to reflect on the Easter message as a community. A second Assembly in Week Ten, which includes the presentation of Endeavour Awards to students, has been moved to Wednesday 9 April from 11.55am to 12.35pm.

Academic Group visiting Year Eleven to Twelve students

Next Tuesday, 1 April, we have a group joining us to present to Year Eleven and Twelve students about study skills and a number of workshops available during the April school holidays to help students prepare for examinations. Please see the flyers we have included for further information.

Gate2Plate

On Tuesday of this week, some of our Hospitality students had the privilege of attending the Gate2Plate at Willyung Farm. Mrs McAllister has written about this in the Technologies News section, it is well worth a read.

I wish all families a wonderful week ahead.

Kind regards

Mr Jordan Owenell | Deputy Principal - Head of Secondary

Year Seven to Nine Swimming Carnival Results Update

Unfortunately, the Year Seven Girls' Interhouse Swimming Carnival results were incorrect due to a processing issue. This software error affected the points distribution and the allocation of medals, which we understand is far from ideal.  The original placings were:

  1. Beatrix Allen - 141 points
  2. Pippa King - 127 points
  3. Kate Levett - 122 points
  4. Annie Newman - 121 points

The corrected results are:

  1. Kate Levett - 152 points
  2. Annie Newman - 139 points
  3. Beatrix Allen - 137 points
  4. Pippa King - 127 points

This has had no impact on House results.

We apologise for any emotional stress that this mistake has caused for the students, their families, and the staff organising the carnival, as we all strive for accurate results.
