Term 3
I am pleased to inform you of an exciting staff change in our Year 2/3 class. We are delighted to welcome Mrs. Camille Voce to our teaching team. Mrs. Voce has been working with our senior class one day a week this year, and I am grateful that she has accepted the opportunity to join the Year 2/3 class from Wednesday to Friday, sharing the teaching responsibilities with Mrs. Vaz.

Newsletter – Year 2/3
On Wednesday morning, the Year 2 students embarked on an exciting excursion to the local botanical gardens. The trip was filled with wonder and discovery as the students of Year 2/3explored various historical features like the entrance gates, the fountain, tea rooms and the summer house. We also learnt about the natural features like the significant trees and Lake Augusta which is now the sunken oval.
We have also been attending Chess sessions with Harry every other Friday and have been enjoying understanding the connection between Maths and Chess.
Year 2/3 have celebrated their learning of information reports during writing sessions by publishing a report on an animal of their choice.

Divisional Netball & Football
Last Friday 21st June the Goldfields Division Primary Schools Football and Netball Carnival was held at Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve. Our wonderful St Mary’s netball and football teams participated in this event. The students participated with enthusiasm and a wonderful positive attitude and are to be commended for their brilliant team work! It was a delight to watch the students enjoying playing a game they love, developing their skills further and, most importantly, working as a team with their peers. Well done to all students!
A special thank you and well done to our year 3 students who were able to join the team this term, enabling us to make up the team numbers and ultimately participate on the day!
A very big thank you to our amazing parent helpers and volunteers whose assistance enabled us to participate-some wonderful coaching, umpiring and scoring!

We would like to wish Isabelle all the best with her participation in the Cross Country State Championships which are being held during the first week of term 3. Congratulations Isabelle for making it into the championships-an amazing achievement!
Clare Grainger
PE Teacher
It has been a busy term for our Foundation and Grade 1 class. As part of our end of term reflective writing students were asked about their top memories for the term. There were lots of special memories. Some of these included; going on our bushwalk, doing circus performance with Mrs Byrne, visiting the Castlemaine Community Garden, Art with Mrs Demothenous, making and eating snake biscuits, leading the assembly, singing with Drew Lane, making galaxy jars with Clare, our butterfly art, singing with Miss Marian, making our family trees, getting our school chooks, learning Spanish with Diana and Tabloid Sports day…just to name a few.
Thank you to all of our parents who have been supportive and active in our classroom. Enjoy the school holidays.
