Science and Engineering Challenge Day on 26th June: AHS, THE WINNING TEAM!

Congratulations to Auburn High School for winning the first prize in the Science and Engineering Challenge Day at Deakin University on Wednesday 26 June. 27 Yr 9 and Yr 10 students passionate about STEM represented the school in this science and engineering competition against five other schools. Our students worked in teams of 2, 3 or 4, to solve challenging hands-on problems such as creating an electricity grid in a city, designing an earthquake resistant building, making a wind turbine, a glider or a bridge out of balsa wood, decoding messages, or solving a critical path problems in a planning schedule. Students showed extraordinary collaboration and critical thinking skills and represented the school with brio. Auburn High School has been selected to participate at the state level competition. Well done to our science and engineering champions and good luck for the next round.

Looking ahead : the National Science Week 12 – 18 August

On the week of 12th of August, we will be celebrating the National Science Week at Auburn High School. This year, the theme will be about species survival and sustainability. This event is a great way to engage schools and communities to debate, explore and share experience on this important topic. Parents and guardians involved in science and passionate about knowledge sharing could join our school as a guest speaker during the week. Please send your expression of interest to AHS STEM coordinator, Ms Wong-Fat.
