Semester 1 Reports and Term 3 Parent Teacher Interviews

Just a reminder that our Semester 1 Reports will be made available via Compass on Wednesday the 26th of June. We hope that our revised reporting format will give clear and meaningful information regarding your child's achievement and future learning goals.

Our next round of Parent-Teacher conferences will be held in Week 5 of Term 3. This change (in 2023 the conferences were held in the last week of Term 2) has been made from feedback received from staff and families alike. These changes have been made to ensure that our formal communications with our families regarding student achievement (Semester Reports and Parent-Teacher Conferences) are happening at regular intervals throughout the year. The need for consistent and regular communication from the school about your child’s progress was a common theme within parent surveys and feedback received in 2023. These conferences will also enable teachers to give parents an update on their child’s progress and to put any actions in place that will assist in facilitating growth prior to the Semester 2 Report.

Staff Learning - Reading Strategies

A major focus of our staff learning at Park Ridge Primary School is being able to utilise up to date and research based methods within our classrooms to provide engaging, rich and meaningful tasks for all students. Throughout the year, our teaching staff have been familiarising themselves with the text The Reading Strategies Book 2.0 which aims to "connect crucial research to powerful practice to provide engaging lessons for engaging lessons for whole-class teaching, support small-group instruction, ideas for intervention or ways to fill gaps in a core curriculum."

Teachers have recently made presentations to their peers sharing the positive changes this resource has made in their classrooms. I will share snippets of these presentation in my upcoming newsletters to give a snapshot of some the fantastic activities happening during Reading sessions.
