Principal's Report
We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.
May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)Program
As we enter Semester Two, families are probably beginning to consider the most appropriate device to purchase for their child, as they approach Year Three for 2025.
For the BYOD Program in 2025, the recommendation for students at Miners Rest primary School is: 10.9-inch iPad - 9th gen or 10th gen with Wi-Fi & 64GB.
We thank our families for supporting their child, and the school, by purchasing this device.
Student Safety
The school would like to express a timely reminder to our school community about Stranger Danger and Student Safety as we approach the holidays.
The safety of our students is always our highest priority and we encourage our families to share the following safety messages with your children:
- Always walk directly to and from school and avoid making stops or side trips along the way.
- Avoid walking alone – whether it’s with parents or friends, always try to walk in a group.
- If there is anything that makes them feel uncomfortable in any way, they should leave the area and report any concerns to a responsible adult.
- Avoid talking to strangers – walk away from anyone they do not know and tell a responsible adult what happened.
- Avoid getting into cars, even if they think they know someone in the car - unless it has been explicitly arranged and shared their parent/carer.
- Remember the number plate of a vehicle can be a huge assistance to the police, but should only be attempted if the child is safe.
Happy Holidays!
We wish all of our families a happy and safe holiday break. Please take the time to spend time together and make the most of the time without the school routines.
Assembly
A short assembly will be held this Friday to wish our students and staff a happy holiday.
Thank you!
On behalf of our staff, I would like to sincerely thank all of our families and school community for your support and engagement with our school and kindergarten throughout Term Two. We value our partnership and look forward to lots of opportunities in Term Three to connect and engage.
Kylie Nissen.
