Wellbeing
This week, both the Junior and Senior students have been learning about the term, ‘self-esteem’. It was an unfamiliar term for both groups however we now know that it is how we value and perceive ourselves. Both groups were asked to rate their self-esteem out of 10. It was very encouraging to see lots of students rating themselves highly (we will reassess this score at the end of this unit). The Junior students spent time talking to different partners about their good qualities before independently completing their work. The Senior students began their self-esteem projects this week on the ipad.
Last week, the Senior students explored bullying. They were able to identify some different types of bullying and enjoyed working in small groups to present some very entertaining role plays.
Connection activities and games have continued to be a real highlight in both the Junior and Senior Wellbeing sessions. These activities and games are designed to promote teamwork and enable students to make connections with all their peers. The Senior students enjoyed the challenge of working with a partner to stay in their boat (newspaper) which continued to shrink each round.
