Last week of Term 2
THANK YOU ... Hap
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As I write my final notes, I cannot thank you all enough for making the last 11 weeks, one of the best terms in my career.
Even though I was here at the Dish (my favourite hypocorism) for a short period of time, I feel strongly connected and very privileged to be part of such a beautiful rural community. I felt the warmth and support from every family even before I started the term whether be at the Red Gum or the weekend footy. Thank you for teaching me more about the reasons why without strong rural communities nations do not exist. The reasons which prove that it is the distinctive qualities of rural communities which set the nations up for a bright future. Cavendish Primary School is the best example for such rural strength and the communal and traditional excellence as it is engraved in its school motto.
I would also like to take this final opportunity to thank all staff and the school council for all their work and efforts for our school. Without their incredible dedication, none of the children would be growing at the pace they are academically, socially and emotionally.
Finally, the most I will miss, the students. Each and every single one are special and beautiful and intelligent in many ways. I think they did a better job teaching than I did. I
learnt so much teaching them within such a short period of time. Given the current situations in our world, the ever increasing influence of social media, they are so incredibly lucky to be surrounded by peace and tranquility and more importantly the real life experiences which set them up and maximise their learning for life. I am so proud of every single one of them and I know that they are in great hands with Mrs Steele.
As my first rural school experience, Cavendish Primary School will always have a special place in my heart and mind. It is the reason for my continued love and interest in rural small schools. As I continue my experience at rural schools, I am looking forward to serving the community at Macarthur Primary School from Term 3.
Student Semester One Reports
Semester One reports are published yesterday and can be accessed via uEducateUs.
Hot Dog Day
I would like to thank Carlie and the Parents Club for cooking hot dogs yesterday for all students. I learnt that with Airfryers cooking can be more delicious and quick. The hot dogs were so delicious that some of the students came back for sevens.
Visit from Mrs Steele
Mrs Steele visited us yesterday morning, introducing herself at our special assembly and talking to staff and students. Students were able to ask her some really great questions. It was also great to see Mrs Steele and her two beautiful children came to our Market Day today at lunchtime. All students and families already connected with her friendly nature.
Market Day Stall
Today's Market Day organised by JSC and senior students showed the extent of students' extraordinary skills in entrepreneurship selling all products. We were able to raise $300 and students received 20% from all their profits from the day. This was an interesting exercise at the end of the day. Seeing the students using their financial literacy on the day was very pleasing. I do need to say that it was a team effort with parents and families. So thanks to all families who came along at lunchtime to make it even more special.
