CHRISTMAS IN JULY

We are so excited to announce our Christmas in July Burnie Campus community event to be held on 4 July in the undercover area and The Ark beginning at 5.00pm. Following dinner, we will make our way into The Ark at 6.00pm to join in a time of community Carols by Candlelight led by Mrs Fa’ase’e and Mrs Polden. All classes will present a Christmas carol item on the night.

We are selling hot food, drinks and treats for you to pre-order via the QKR app so that we can adequately cater for the event.

Orders close Friday 28 June.

The invitation to attend is extended to you, your children and your wider family.

So, we invite you to dust off your Christmas t-shirts, jumpers, headbands, socks, earrings and all things Christmasy and join us for what promises to be a great night together. There will be an Ugly Christmas jumper competition and we are introducing a toy drive as well.

BRIXHIBITION

Students at the Burnie campus have been busily building their Lego creations for Brixhibition 2024.  The competition was tough, each grade and each student voted, with the overall winning entry going to Leeland.

Congratulations to all that entered.  What fabulous entries!

CASUAL CLOTHES DAY

On Friday 7 June Burnie Campus held a casual clothes day to raise money to establish a music program to be started at Finke School in the Northern Territory.

Finke School is part of a small community near Alice Springs and the money raised will enable the purchase of ukuleles and recorders for the students.

The goal is to raise $875.00.  As of Friday, the school raised $676.00.

If you would like to donate, please drop your donation off at the Burnie Campus office by the end of Term, 4 July.

LEARN TO SWIM

24 June - 4 July

The Learn to Swim program at Leighland Christian School focuses on developing an understanding of water safety, survival, and swimming practices to ensure an enjoyable, rewarding, and safe water experience. This year, the lessons will be for Kinder to Year 6 starting on Monday 24 June and concluding on Thursday 4 July at the Burnie Aquatic Centre.

Please ensure you have given permission via the EdSmart email for your child to attend.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR - HELP NEEDED

We are looking for a parent, or a team of parents, who would like to take the lead in running the 2024 Scholastic Book Fair on the Burnie Campus. You will be provided with a support person from Scholastic, instructional videos, and plenty of help from us as well! For this very popular event to run in the school, we will then be asking for other volunteers who may be able to help man the stall before or after school on a set day. The coordinator/s would oversee setting up for the fair, handling the money, checking the stock for suitability in our school and overseeing the volunteers.

The Book Fair will need to be set up on Monday 12 August; it will then run from Tuesday to Thursday and then be packed up on Friday at this stage.

If you would be interested in managing the Book Fair or supporting it by volunteering of a morning from 8.00am to 8.30am or an afternoon from 3.00pm to 3.30pm to help with sales, then please let us know.

BURNIE EISTEDDFOD - DRAMA & MUSIC SECTION

Wednesday 19 June - Wednesday 28 June

As you know, as a school we have been busy rehearsing for the Burnie City Eisteddfod.

As usual, our school will take part in the Drama and Music Week.

A schedule for students involved has been sent via an EdSmart email.

Unless your child has a costume to wear for their item, all students involved must be in their full winter uniform, including the green woollen school jumper.
